GATE 2024 Result: Over 6.5 lakh appear for exam, 1.29 lakh qualify

GATE 2024 Result: The Indian Institute of Sciences Bangalore (IISc Bangalore) declared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2024 result on March 16. Over 8.26 lakh applications were received spanning over 30 test papers. Of these, 6,53,292 candidates appeared for the exam.

It’s commendable that over 6.5 lakh candidates appeared for the GATE 2024 exam. This highlights the significance of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering as a crucial examination for engineering and science graduates in India.

With 1.29 lakh candidates qualifying, it indicates a competitive yet fair evaluation process. Qualifying in the GATE exam opens up various opportunities for further education, research, and employment in prestigious institutions and organizations both in India and abroad.

Candidates who have qualified can now utilize their GATE scores for admission to postgraduate programs (M.Tech, ME, MS, PhD) in various disciplines at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other leading institutes, as well as for recruitment in public sector undertakings (PSUs) and other organizations.

It’s essential for candidates to keep track of further announcements regarding counseling, admissions, and recruitment processes through the official GATE website and respective institutes’ websites for a smooth transition into their desired academic or professional paths.

According to the cutoff for that category and test paper, the total number of candidates who qualified in all GATE test papers in their respective categories (GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD) is 1,29,268.

This time, GATE saw an increase of 23 per cent in enrollment, as last year about 6.70 lakh candidates registered for GATE for 29 papers, in total. Out of these, 5.17 lakh candidates appeared for the exam in more than 500 centres across the country with an overall attendance of about 77 per cent.

Additionally, GATE 2024 featured a new test paper on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA), which attracted 52,743 applications, of which 39,210 candidates appeared for the test, and 8,378 candidates qualified the test.
